Permanent Exhibition "Holyhead at War"

Part of the museums complex is a Second World War shelter. The shelter one of sixteen built  at the commencement of the war, as part of the towns defences. The reason for the location on the waterfront was due to the fact that the German Luftwaffe flew up the Irish Sea on their bombing raids on Liverpool and Birkenhead. Returning from their forte they would discharge any remaining ordinance on the British and Dutch vessels in the town’s harbour. The shelter now houses the permanent exhibition “Holyhead at War” On display are artefact donated by the towns people who’s relatives fought in the First and Second World Wars, also the Falklands war
